Lead Scientist - Data Analyst

As a Lead Scientist - Data Analyst, you will combine scientific expertise with strong analytical capabilities to uncover patterns, trends and insights from in vitro, animal, and human studies. You will transform raw data into clear, compelling stories that support decision‑making and bring scientific concepts to life for diverse audiences.
As a key member of our Science Integration team, you will work collaboratively with internal experts, researchers to support data‑driven projects and contribute to high‑quality scientific communication.

The candidate should be able to work independently with a independent and proactive mindset. You will work from our offices in Ghent/Belgium.

Your key responsibilities 

  • Scientific Data Analysis & Insight Generation
    • Perform statistical analysis of scientific data from in vitro, animal and human studies.
    • Collect, interpret and integrate data from scientific articles, databases and project reports.
    • Apply advanced statistical methods and predictive modeling to clinical datasets.
    • Stay up to date on emerging technologies for data analysis, research methodologies and data‑science innovations.
    • Deliver evidence‑based recommendations to support Science and Innovation strategic decisions.
  • Scientific Storytelling & Visualization
    Translate complex datasets into accessible, visually engaging materials (e.g., infographics, presentations, articles, illustrations).
    • Build clear scientific narratives that highlight the health and well‑being impact of nutritional solutions.
    • Collaborate closely with researchers and scientists to ensure accurate interpretation and communication of findings.
  • Data Governance & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Ensure data integrity, compliance and best practices across all analytical workflows.
    • Support cross‑functional teams in designing and executing data‑driven projects.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of data processing, visualization and reporting workflows.

What you bring 

  • Education & Experience 
  • MSc or PhD degree in statistics with a focus on Biology or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in nutritional, biomedical, or clinical research domains.

  • Skills & Competencies 
  • Strong command of Python and/or R, NeXT flow, knowledge of HPC, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
  • Experience in statistical analysis of clinical trial data.
  • Ability to build simple predictive models for human nutrition and apply modern data‑science techniques.
  • Perfect knowledge of English.

  • Additional Skills

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate science into clear, accessible messages.
• Strong critical thinking, attention to detail and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in clinical or preclinical research;
• Knowledge of peptide/protein biology is a plus.
• Big data analysis of transcriptomic/proteomic
• Machine learning
• Curiosity, open‑mindedness and a passion for exploring new ideas.
